Azulay, Eliyahu (‘Eli’)


Son of Rafael and Haviva. He was born on 15.1.1958 in Rehovot. He studied at the son of-Zvi Elementary School in Ashkelon and completed his studies at the elementary school successfully and began to work in a garage for automotive mechanics, during which he learned the profession well and liked his employers, who appreciated his talent and character Eli was a nice boy, easily connected to people, he was a sports fan and practiced in various sports in the Ashkelon community center. Thanks to his manly nature, he was appointed to be responsible for the youth club in his neighborhood. Eli was a loyal and devoted son to his parents, helped his mother with household chores and took part in the family’s agriculture. Eli was drafted into the IDF in October 1975. He served for about a month at the absorption base, waiting for basic training, and on the 19th of Kislev 5736 (23.11.1975), shortly after he enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces, He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Ashkelon. Survived by his parents and four brothers and sisters. His family donated a Torah scroll in memory of the synagogue in his neighborhood. They also contributed the book “Zohar” with the interpretation of “Ladder”, for the elevation of the soul of the son.
