Azulai, Machluf


Son of Avner and her meal. He was born in Safed, Morocco, on December 30, 1935. He began his studies at the Talmud Torah (“the mother of the sons”) and from there moved to the elementary school of “Kol Israel Haverim” in his hometown. His father, a veteran Zionist activist and public activist, was a Hebrew and French teacher at this school, then moved to the Ort vocational school in Casablanca where he studied carpentry and was a member of the Scouts movement in Morocco. He worked as a clerk in the Finance Ministry of the French government in Fez, and in 1956 immigrated to Israel with his family. In the evenings, he prepared for the matriculation exams, and on August 19 he was drafted into the IDF and during his service he worked as a clerk in the battalion headquarters. On September 9, 1958, he died and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Haifa.
