Azuf, Benyamin (Benzi)
Son of Chava and Zvi, was born in Tel Aviv on the 3rd of Av, August 3, 1924. He was a member of the Scouts movement and of the Haganah. During the Second World War he enlisted in the British Army. When he returned to work in Haifa, he was active in the ranks of the Haganah. In the IDF he was trained with light weapons, successfully completed a sabotage course and was promoted to the rank of sergeant. On December 22, with the opening of Operation Horev, its unit occupied the 86th Regiment between Gaza and Rafah to threaten the western arm of the Egyptian army and serve as a deception to the main effort in the east. The next day the Egyptians attacked large forces with the help of armor and the force was forced to retreat. Benyamin fell on the 21st of Kislev (December 23, 1948) at this outpost. He was buried on Kibbutz Gvulot. On the 16th of Av 5709, he was transferred to the eternal rest of the military cemetery in Haifa
