Azer, Remy
Rami, son of Rachel and Ephraim, was born on December 27, 1950, in Tiberias. He completed his first seven years of studies at the “State V” school in Tiberias, and completed elementary school at the Ramat Hadassah School in Tivon. Afterward, he completed high school at Kibbutz Givat Haim Meuhad, when he was a member of the kibbutz youth company. Rami’s friendship with the Kibbutz youth group had a great influence on him, and thanks to her he learned to love and appreciate the life of the village and the labor. Therefore, from the time he enlisted in the IDF, he chose to join the Nahal nucleus, in order to continue his life in the kibbutz after his military service. Rami was drafted into the IDF in September 1968 and assigned to the Nahal Brigade. As a first stage of his military service, he spent a period of early training at Kibbutz Givat Haim Meuhad, where he continued his basic training with the Nahal Brigade and went to agricultural training at Kibbutz Maoz Haim. After completing his training, he took part in a paratroop training course and later served in the Nahal Brigade, where he was assigned to the Armored Corps, where he took courses in mortar and tank drivers for the Centurion tank. Rami served in the Eyal group, to which his nucleus was designated. After completing his regular service Rami was released and assigned to a reserve unit, and from time to time he was called for reserve duty. He returned to live in the Eyal group and to work in the agriculture, and in July 1973 he went on a long trip in Europe, and returned from it before the outbreak of the Yom Kippur War. When the Yom Kippur War broke out Rami was drafted and sent to the Golan Heights with his unit, where he took part in the difficult battles against the Syrians. In the battle that took place on the “wonder” axis on the 7th of Tishrei 5740 (7.10.1973) his tank was hit and Rami was killed. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Rishon Letzion. Survived by his parents, brothers and sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to corporal.
