Awadi, Yosef


He was born in 1929 in Yemen and immigrated to Israel in 1942. He studied in a religious elementary school and joined the “Bnei Akiva” movement, then worked as a plasterer and was active in the ranks of the Haganah. He moved to the Irgun and took part in operations against the British in Jerusalem. During the War of Independence, he participated in the defense of the city and in actions against the enemy, and he left with his unit to attack the village of Malha and on his way to order help to one of the positions was hit and fell on the 8th of Tammuz 5707 (July 14, 1948). He was buried in Sheikh Bader Aleph. On the 28th of Elul 5710 (10.9.1950) he was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
