Avital, Shalom


Shalom, ben Suzanne and Isaac, was born on August 1, 1953, in Maza, Morocco, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1964. Shalom was drafted into the IDF in November 1972 and volunteered for a reconnaissance unit. While his service has been applied and his medical profile has been downloaded. Two days before he was about to leave the mountain, on Wednesday, 24 Iyar 5734 (24.4.1974), Shalom was hit and killed on Mount Hermon, in the shelling of the Syrians. He wrote to the bereaved family in a letter of condolences to the bereaved family that during the time Shalom made peace in his unit under his command, he was able to contribute greatly to his company and was an example of his comrades in his devotion Shalom’s parents donated a Torah scroll to his Sephardic synagogue on Brazil Street in Jerusalem.
