Avidar, Aharon (Roni)


Son of Hanna and David, was born on April 23, 1956, in Jerusalem, where he completed his studies in an elementary school and in the Lady Davis High School. Aharon, or as his friends called him – Ronnie, was loved and accepted by his friends and helped them at every opportunity. On August 5, 1974, Aharon was drafted into the IDF and assigned to serve in the IAF, a responsible and obedient soldier, and devotedly performed all his duties despite his medical limitations. After his discharge from the IDF he married Orly, his high school girlfriend and two years later their daughter Hila was born. Ronny liked to travel in Israel and was a member of the camping association. He would take his small family and go for a walk with her around the country. Ronny studied computer programming and systems analysis and started working at the Ministry of Finance. When he had the chance to move on in computers, he moved to Nes Tziona and worked for an insurance company as head of the computer unit. After a few years, he moved to the digital company, Digital, and served as its salesperson. Shortly thereafter, his second son, Idan, was born. Idan was born with a rare defect in his digestive system, struggled for three and a half months for his life and finally died. All the while, Ronnie was meticulous in his work, and at the end of the day he went to Jerusalem to visit his son at the hospital. Three months after the death of his son, on February 4, 1985, Roni was killed by a terrorist while he was in reserve duty guarding the gate of the customs office in Ramallah. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. He left behind a wife and daughter, parents and brother.
