Attia, Haim


Son of Sarah and Massoud. Born in 1939 in Libya. He began his studies in the synagogue in Libya, studying Torah. In 1949 he immigrated with his family to Israel. The family established their home in Moshav Yatzitz near Ramle, where Haim graduated from elementary school. He continued his high school studies in the IDF, and in the 1950s he was drafted into the IDF. He served in the Air Force, where he served as a cook, and in this profession he continued for many years in the career army. In 1960 Haim married Rina and they had six children. During his service, despite his illness and medical limitations, he continued to invest in work after hours. Was very responsible and dedicated to his role. Chaim participated in the wars of Israel and received the Peace of Galilee. On 18.5.1987 Haim was killed during his service and laid to rest in the military section of Moshav Yatzitz. He was forty-eight when he died. He left behind a wife – Rina, five sons – Amos, Nissim, Asher, Huato, Shimon and daughter – Rachel, parents, five sisters – Tamar, Mazal, Nasaria, Shoshana and Dina and brother – Yehuda. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “Haim served for many years in the unit and was a well-known and beloved figure, who had a good and naïve life with the unit, a good and naïve soul, he stood out for his military service. He was always ready to carry out everything that was entrusted to him and to the full satisfaction of his commanders, whenever he was required. “
