Atta, Adel


Son of Esther and Mida. He was born on November 10, 1963, in Be’er Sheva. He did his elementary studies at the son of-Zvi and Minirim schools in Be’er Sheva. He continued his studies in the junior high school at the Boyar boarding school in Jerusalem and in the real direction at the A-School in Be’er Sheva. His father, a member of the Druze community, married a Jewish wife, and despite the fact that the mother was Jewish, the children grew up and were educated as Druze, with full identification with their Druze community. His father died in 1983. In the middle of November 1981, Adal was drafted into the army. He was trained as an interpreter in the Intelligence Corps and participated in the Peace-Galilee War and was awarded the Peace of Galilee Medal, and his commanders testified that he was a brilliant man who loved to help others. After his discharge from the IDF he began his studies at the Technion. On September 9, 1988, he was called to reserve duty in his unit and during his service, on the 6th of Tishrei 5749 (October 6, 1988), he fell while fulfilling his duties. In a road accident near Kibbutz Nir Am, Adal was injured and killed. He was laid to rest in Majdal Shams. Survived by three sisters – Suheila, Dunya, and Lawrence.
