Atkin, Zohar

Son of Shoshana and Yaakov, was born on 29.11.1931 in Moshav Bitzron. During the “Dani” operation and on the night of 17-18 July 1948, the “Haemek” battalion seized Shilat and took control of the eastern part of the Korikor ridge to threaten the wing of the legion in Latrun. The enemy attacked the force in the outpost from two directions with the aid of armored vehicles, and his troop was forced to withdraw. In this battle, on 18.7.1948, he fell and was transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
