Atadji, Shalom

Son of Miriam and Mordechai, he was born on April 9, 1962 in Moshav Shefer in the Upper Galilee. His parents immigrated from Morocco and settled in Moshav Shefer near Meron, where they worked the land and made a living as farmers. He hoped that after he was discharged from the army, he would return to the Moshav where he had grown up as a farmer. He completed elementary and junior high school in Meron. Afterward, Shalom studied for two years in a carpentry vocational school. In May 1980 he enlisted in the IDF and underwent training in the Border Police, when the Peace for Galilee War broke out with his unit in Lebanon and was employed on routine security missions. The military administration in Tire was housed in a building. A gas explosion occurred and collapsed the building and buried its residents, among them Shalom, 20. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Safed and left behind his parents, four sisters and three brothers. His family donated a book of Haftarot to the beit hakenesset in Moshav Shefer, where he was born and lived.
