Atadji, Joseph


Son of Shlomo and Esther. He was born in the city of Tetouan, Morocco, and graduated from the Gymnasium in Casablanca in 1950. He immigrated to Israel in 1950 as part of Youth Aliyah, starting with a youth group in Negba, but later, when he had to lend a hand To his parents, moved from there and worked in a farm, and in June 1952 he was drafted into the IDF. He was an officer in the career army after completing a school for armored officers. In this course he excelled and was sent to France for training; There, too, he was among the best officers. During the course of his studies he longed to return to Israel and to his parents, to whom he was very attached. At the end of the course he flew back to Israel, but his fate was not welcomed and he was among those killed in the El Al plane, which was shot down in the Bulgarian skies on the day of 8 Av 5716 (July 27, 1955). And his parents donated a Torah scroll and put him on the anniversary of his passing to the synagogue in Moshav Yeshurash.
