Asulin, Elisha
Son of Meir and Simcha. Born on the 11th of Adar, February 28, 1950 in Morocco. The family immigrated to Israel in 1955. Elisha attended the “Bilu” elementary school in Ramle. He was active in sports and loved to read a lot. His education was religious, and he grew up in an atmosphere of respect for the family and courtesy to others. He was naturally shy and quiet. Elisha was forced to abandon his studies, after graduating from elementary school, in order to devote himself to supporting his family (because his father, who worked in the Nesher cement factory, was injured in a work accident). Elisha began working in the aluminum factory and completed his studies. He was drafted into the Armored Corps in November 1967. He was energetic and devoted, and in his service, he proved himself to be a good and dedicated soldier. Before the end of one year of his compulsory service, he fell on the 15th of Elul, September 8, 1968, in Deir Sawal on the Suez Canal in a fire incident with the Egyptians. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Ramle. His commander, in a letter of condolences to his parents, notes his devotion, as well as his integrity and credibility towards his commanders. His friendly and cordial attitude towards his friends, the commander wrote, brought him to the center of social life in the department. He was always ready to help those in need. After his death, his father put a Torah scroll, in memory of his son Elisha, in the synagogue named for Rabbi Meir Baal Haness.
