Assoulin, Nissim

Nissim, son of Esther and Moshe Assoulin, was born on 10.8.1926 in Jerusalem to a poor family. He studied in a “cheder” in the Old City, where his parents lived. He then joined the Irgun underground, but kept this secret strictly. This was known to the family only on the day he left the underground and joined his comrades in the regular army. Nissim participated in the conquest of Malcha and managed to come home and talk about his part in this campaign. Nissim went out again into a battle from which he fell, on the 11th of Tammuz 5708 (18.7.1948) and was buried in Sheikh Bader Aleph. On the 28th of Elul 5710 (10.9.1950) he was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
