Asser, Alfred


Son of Bronicka and Leopold. He was born in 1903. During World War II, he enlisted in the British Army and served in the Royal Navy as a mechanical engineer, and in 1943 he sailed on a ship called “Lili”, which transported immigrants from Bulgaria to Eretz Israel on August 21, Cyprus to Haifa, the ship was shelled by a German submarine, artillery shells pierced the ship as a sieve and it sank. Alfred was killed on the spot. Nine other crew members from the eleven who sailed, including Gershon Marcus and Benjamin Wittenberg, drowned in the depths. He left a wife. His name was immortalized in the book of the Ma’apilim. The space is a machete – a space whose burial place is unknown
