Assaf (Polani), Yehuda

Yehuda, son of Rachel and Eliyahu Polani, was born in Tel Aviv in 1925. He enlisted in the Palmach, where he demonstrated responsibility and honor, adherence to work and training, and self-confidence that he projected on his comrades. Yehuda went out with a Palmach unit to blow up two bridges, the railway bridge and the road bridge, which were leaning on Nachal Akhziv. The unit encountered fire and the fourteen men were killed on 18 Sivan (16.6.1946). He was brought to rest in a mass grave in the cemetery on the Carmel coast and in 1968 the remains of the men were transferred to a grave in the place that they fell.
