He was a sports enthusiast with outstanding skills in this field, especially in the field of light athletics, and was awarded certificates and prizes. When he was in ninth grade, he was sent to compulsory military service in early August 1992 and asked to volunteer for one of the elite units, but this was not possible and he was placed in the brigade Givati. Yigal fell during his service on the 12th of Tishrei 5753 (October 12, 1992) and was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Dimona. He left two parents, two sisters and three brothers – Carmela, Dafna, Ofer, Yishai and Hagai. The family established a Torah library to commemorate his memory.
