Ashkenazi, Moshe
Son of Israel and Leah. He was born on May 5, 1948 in the city of Izmir, Turkey, where he immigrated to Israel in 1948 and then moved to Israel at the age of five months, where he studied at David Remez Elementary School in Yehud and completed his studies there. He was a diligent and outstanding student in his studies and was always willing to help his friends when necessary, and was a member of the Hanoar Haoved movement and was in the center of the events. Moshe also had various hobbies, including building electric appliances and airplane models, collecting stamps and reading To the IDF in August 1966, and one of his greatest ambitions was to volunteer for an aviation course. This was not possible for him, so he reached the Navy (for some reason the sea attracted him and the last book he read was “The Cruel Sea”). After six months of practical training, he moved to a training base and began working as an electrician. He then moved to the Eilat destroyer. He was an excellent soldier and loyal to his position and his commanders, and was therefore admired for everything. Who aspired to advance in life and to do so, would say, “I have to learn, learn a lot.” He was scheduled to continue his studies at the Hebrew Technion in Haifa after completing his service and becoming an engineer. On the 18th of TIshrai, October 21, 1967, the destroyer “Eilat” was sunk by Egyptian missiles in front of a Romanian beach in northern Sinai. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
