Asher, Aaron (‘Ronnie’)
Son of Eliyahu and Leah. Born on 26 April 1958 in Tel Aviv, he studied at the Bar-Yochai Elementary School in Tel Aviv and continued his studies at Beit-Gan High School in Bat Yam, And he attended an electrical course at the Technical Center in Holon, Roni was an avid sports enthusiast, devoted many hours to basketball games, did not give up on important sports events, and watched sports shows on television. Roni was drafted into the IDF in May 1976 and volunteered to serve in the infantry as a paratrooper. After basic training and after completing a parachuting course, he was sent to a paratroop unit in central Israel. Roni was a disciplined soldier and devoted to his role, reliable and loved by his commanders. On May 10, 1977, Roni was killed while carrying out a helicopter crash in the Jordan Valley. In this disaster, 54 soldiers were killed. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Holon. Survived by his parents, sister and two brothers. His parents established a library in his memory in a synagogue in his hometown.
