Aryeh, Avraham

Aryeh, Avraham

Son of Rivka and Gabriel. Was born on March 8, 1914, in Rishon Letzion, to a family whose first immigrants immigrated from Bulgaria in 1861. After the outbreak of the bloody riots of 1936, he enlisted to serve as a guard in the orchards of Rishon LeZion, and in 1937 he was injured in the defense of the Katif workers, and when he recovered, he continued to tour the citrus groves and chose to go to places of trouble such as Givat Ada, Bat Shlomo and Kfar Nordau. On September 5, 1938, he and his friend toured the land of Ahuza A near Rishon LeZion and the two were attacked by an Arab gang. Avraham ordered his friend, who was married and the father of children, to withdraw and he himself was in favor of his retreat. In the exchange of fire, Avraham was hit by three bullets, but despite his wounds, he continued firing until his death. He was buried in the Rishon Letzion cemetery. After the establishment of the State of Israel, the village of Abu Rizek was renamed Kfar Aryeh after him.
