Aroesti, Abraham

He was attached to the Beit Horon Battalion, which was famous for its battles in Jerusalem. Most of the battalion’s soldiers fell in the difficult and protracted battles until the regiment had to be canceled over time. Abraham was an expert saboteur, and spent the entire period defending Jerusalem and its outskirts, participated in all the battles and became known as a courageous person who did not shrink from any danger. On the fifteenth of Tishrei, 5709 (October 18, 1948) he fell in Arnona. A monument in his memory was erected in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
