Arman, Ernest

Ernest was a sailor on the ship “Mount Zion”. With the outbreak of World War II, the ship joined the British merchant fleet and sailed between the British ports and the Mediterranean ports, and in 1940 took part in an effort to break the naval blockade of the British in the convoys on the Atlantic Ocean. On 1.8.1940, when the ship “Mount Zion” was on its way from Britain to the United States, it was hit by a German submarine and descended to the depths, along with 33 sailors, 17 of them from Eretz Israel and Ernst among them. His burial place is unknown.
