Arkin, Eliezer Moshe


Son of Miriam and Zalman. He was born on 18.7.1929 in Akron (Mazkeret Batya), one of the first settlers in the village founded in 1884. A few months after his induction into the Palmach, he was chosen to leave for a course for squad commanders, and he and his friends were assigned the task of blowing up the radar station in Haifa in response to the deportation of the illegal immigration ship “Exodus from Europe 5707”. The explosion took place on July 21, 1947, and Eliezer was wounded during the retreat. On the day of the 4th of Av 5747 (21.7.1947), he died of his wounds and was brought to burial on the following day.
