Ariel, Tamar

Tamar, daughter of Anat and Chanan Ariel, was born on September 12, 1989 in the religious cooperative moshav of Masuot Yitzhak near Ashkelon. Tamar stood out as a leader and educator when she guided the Bnei Akiva movement in Masuot Yitzhak. Even after two years of national service she felt that she had not exhausted her contribution to the state and decided to enlist in the IDF. On July 15, 2009, Tamar enlisted in the Israel Air Force. She began the course 164, and despite all the special difficulties of a religious soldier in the course she successfully completed her first year, which included flight tests, infantry training and an officers’ course. In October 2013 Tamar successfully completed operational training. At the end of the training, Lieutenant Tamar continued to serve as a pilot in the squadron for about a year, until her fall.
In October 2014, Tamar went on vacation with friends to Nepal, during which the group encountered a severe snowstorm. Tamar fell during the performance of her duties on the 21st of Tishrei, (14.10.2014). She was twenty-five years old. She was laid to rest in the Massuot Yitzhak cemetery. Survived by parents, three brothers and two sisters. Tamar was raised after her fall to the rank of captain.
