Ariel, Oded
Son of Yaffa and Mordechai. He was born on the 19 th of Tevet 5706 (23.12.1945) in Rehovot. As a child, the family lived in the Tzrifin military base where his father served in the regular army, following his previous service in the Haganah’s permanent service. The family moved to Tel Aviv, where Oded attended elementary school. He began his high school studies at the Herzliya Gymnasium and later at the military boarding school of the IAF in Haifa. Oded enlisted in the IDF in 1963 and volunteered to serve in the Paratroopers Brigade, where he held various positions in elite commandos Shaked and Haruv and was appointed deputy commander of the Haruv reconnaissance unit, and in 1966 he married Yehudit and the couple had four children. A young officer was among the fighters for the liberation of Jerusalem, and in one of the chase after terrorists around El Arish, Oded was wounded in the back and despite the pain that did not leave him, he insisted that he be allowed to continue his combat duties. Underwent a series of operations in his back, one of which suffered a nerve in the back and paralyzed the lower half of his body He was a graduate of the Command and Staff College and a student at Tel Aviv University on public administration and history, and in his youth he was a member of Tzahala and the Hapoel football association. , Fishing, and marksmanship On September 4, 1986, Oded fell during his service and was laid to rest at the Kiryat Shaul Military Cemetery. He left a wife, two daughters, two sons, a father, a sister, and a brother.
