Was born on 16.8.1961 in Algiers to a traditional family, and when he was one year old he immigrated to Israel with his parents, who lived in Sderot, where he studied in the elementary school in the town, At the beginning of January 1980, Arik was drafted into compulsory army service. He served in the maintenance corps as a driver of the supply battalion’s fuel company. In 1990, after his release from the IDF, he married Smadar and a year later their son Mordecai was born, and in January 1993 Arik was called up for reserve duty in Khan Yunis and on January 30, 1993, he fell in battle in Gush Katif. That day, Arik volunteered to go on a reconnaissance mission and replaced a friend who was sent on a different mission. The patrol encountered an ambush of terrorists who opened automatic fire at close range. He was thirty-one years old when he fell. Arik was laid to rest in the military section of the Sderot cemetery. Left behind a woman – Smadar, Ben – Mordechai, two brothers – Michel and Arie and five sisters – Daniela, Yoella, Miriam, Brigitte and Nili. The then defense minister, Yitzhak Rabin, sent a letter of condolences to the family. The commander of the unit said in a letter of condolence to the family: “Arik is a pleasant reservist who is willing to fulfill every request and every task he receives with a smile, and the best impression is mainly related to last year’s event. Required and good spirit, while many others failed. ” The family commemorated the donation of a Torah library to a synagogue.
