Son of Moshe and Shoshana. He was born on April 13, 1958, in Kiryat Haim. Shimon attended the Geulim Elementary School and completed his studies at the ORT high school, with the aim of mechanics. Shimon was a serious student and showed great interest in electricity and electronics. “He repaired everything that went wrong in the house,” says his father, “and for this purpose he accumulated a large collection of electronic parts, screws and nails of all kinds, delicate tools and carpentry tools.” From a young age, He devoted almost all of his free time to such tasks, for the benefit of his friends and family. ” In the early months of his life, Shimon was very cheerful, with a smile that did not leave his face, his tolerance and his openness to know each person. These qualities also accompanied him in adulthood and therefore he was always surrounded by devoted friends. The headmaster of the high school says: “Shimon was a gentle, sensitive, modest and dedicated boy to his parents and friends, and he fulfilled every task he was willingly and responsibly entrusted to him. Shimon was drafted into the IDF in August 1976. After completing basic training, he was transferred to a technical unit of the IAF as a mechanic. The commander of the unit says: “Shimon fulfilled his duties efficiently and with great dedication and showed proficiency in his profession, and he wanted to prove to his friends and commanders that he could be assigned any task and that he would be able to fulfill it perfectly.” His pleasant smile and comfortable nature also brought him many loyal friends here. He spent his few vacations at his parents’ house and with his friends around him. The new way of life in the army and the prolonged separation from the home did not prevent him from maintaining close and close friendships with his father and mother, with his sister and with his friends from childhood. He often wrote home and calmed his family when needed. Shimon participated in an operational activity of a technical unit in a company that took part in Operation Litani, and on 9th of Adar 5738 (March 18, 1978) he was taken to the eternal rest of the military cemetery in Haifa.
