Arbel, Erez


Erez, Son of Bracha and Uzi, was born on 8 October 1951. He studied at the elementary school and at the kibbutz high school, and was a diligent student and loved by both his teachers and friends. He was always willing to volunteer to help with every act and act that took place in the economy, and he did a great deal to help the “outside” children to be absorbed in the kibbutz and to give them a sense of home and family warmth. Amitai, a man of ideals, with clear and lucid thought, who accompanied every act of his actions with acute self-criticism, had cultural and artistic events He was gifted with a talent for acting on stage, especially in positions of humor and joking, and in the last years of his studies he served as a facilitator and organizer at parties and in Arab society, and played the trumpet. After finishing basic training and completing a course for reconnaissance patrols, a course for reconnaissance patrols, an APC course and a parachuting course, he was assigned to an armored patrol unit and was appointed commander of a patrol. In the letter of assessment prior to his release, it was said that his behavior was very good and that he fulfilled his duties efficiently and was a dedicated and disciplined soldier. During the Yom Kippur War, Erez participated in the braking battles against the Egyptians in Sinai. In a battle that took place on the 12th of Tishrei 5734 (12.10.1973) in the central sector, near the “Chinese Farm” opposite the Firdan Bridge, his APC was hit by an anti-tank missile and he was killed. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Mizra. He left behind a wife, a father, a mother, two brothers and a sister. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant.
