Arazi, Meir


Meir Arazi was born on 13th of Adar I, Febuary 23, 1929 in Argentina and he immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1937. He joined the Hanoar Haoved movement and served as a youth counselor in Kfar Saba and in the neighborhoods of Tel Aviv. His dream of building a new settlement in the Negev desert became a reality with his friends in Ramat Negev, Despite his young age he trained himself in sabotage and trained friends in the same. During the daring operations carried out in the Negev on the eve of the conquest of Bir Asluj, Meir threw an arson grenade which exploded and mortally wounded him. Two weeks later, on the 16th of Sivan 5708 (June 23, 1948), he died of his wounds at Hadassah Hospital and was brought to eternal rest In the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery. His family published a booklet “Pages in his Memory” on the first anniversary of his death.
