Arad (Ediger), Yoav

Son of Israel and Tzipora. He was born on the 26th of Nissan, April 7, 1937 in Tel Aviv. He graduated from Tichon Hachadash. He was an outstanding naturalist, and was very interested in botany, especially zoology. He enjoyed literature, and even tried to write short notes. From the beginning, he was a member of the United Movement, and at the end of his high school studies, he moved to Hanoar Haoved. He joined the Tzal-Tzach nucleus, and together with his friends, he went to Ein Harod for training. Here he found a broad platform for action, and his hand was in social and cultural activities. He read chapters of the Bible at Sabbath parties, made efforts to obtain records, organized the circle for the knowledge of the country, and found great love for the “animal corner” In Ein Harod. The time for recruitment began, and he left for Nahal. After completing his training, he arrived at the Erez group, and returned to work in the field. He read a lot, and continued his public activities. He was among the fighters during the Sinai Campaign, and on the 27th of Cheshvan, November 1, 1956, he fell in battle. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak. His memory was raised in the “Niv Hakevutzah” of the month of Shvat, 5717. Several stories were written in the collection of “El Reim”, which was published by the Tzel Tzach group in Erez, in the month of Av 5717. Four of his stories were published on the first anniversary of his death (in Cheshvan 1958), in his memory, in the book “Chayim Shenigdau” (“Life Changed”).
