Ankelowicz, Ariel


Son of Sabina and Yitzhak, was born on May 5, 2828 in Bnei Brak. After completing his sixth year of studies at the “Ohel Shem” high school in Ramat Gan, he began helping his parents with their work, growing ornamental flowers. While in high school he joined the ranks of the Haganah and began to bear the burden of the security services. Was very active during the struggle. In one incident, during the Arab harassment, which disguised themselves as Englishmen and surprised the Haganah, two Englishmen who thought of the Arabs wounded and left them wounded to cover up his act but hid them and waited until they were taken to a safe place. One of the wounded Englishmen expressed his appreciation for “the moral level of the Haganah fighters and his feelings of regret over his role.” His talents and dedication made him a part of the job, and despite his youth, he was given the task of commanding a platoon commander in the Kiryati Brigade. On the night of the seventh of Shvat 5708 (18.1.1948), a few weeks after the hostilities began, he and his colleagues were forced to infiltrate the rioters’ hideout, but the mission was carried out until the end, Who died at the head of the platoon in the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery, died of his wounds on January 20, 1948. After his death he was assigned the rank of lieutenant.
