Angers, Aharon (Adi)

Son of Leah and Abraham, was born on August 19, 2222 in Pappenburg, Germany, to an ultra-Orthodox family. He was educated in the Netherlands and studied there in high school. Aharon stopped his studies, joined agricultural training and immigrated to Israel in 1937 as part of the Youth Aliya. In Israel, he studied at the son of Shemen Agricultural School, specialized in dairy farming, but was also interested in the seeds problem. He showed a tendency and talent for painting, but did not develop them out of the realization that the fate of the people precedes his private life. After leaving son of-Shemen he served as a corporal notrim, in charge of Yokneam. In 1942 he joined the British Army and was attached to a camouflage company. He served in the desert and in Italy, where he also dealt with public affairs and refugees and served as the secretary of the military chaplain of the eighth camp. With the establishment of the Jewish Brigade he joined it. He arrived in the Netherlands with the Jewish Brigade, where he learned that his entire family had perished in the Holocaust. After his discharge from the army, he studied in the Department of Applied Graphics at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design and worked on painting and decorating. His paintings appeared in the army’s first bulletins. In December 1947, he enlisted in the Haganah and completed a training course in Naan, was among the first defenders in northern Talpiot, took part in patrols around Jerusalem and in Beit Safafa, was wounded twice and returned to his position. On 12 May, the Legion and Irregular forces carried out a heavy attack on the Bloc, defending the outpost on Tuesday, May 12, 1948, when a direct shell hit him in the head. After his death he was promoted to lieutenant. On the 17th of Cheshvan 5710 (17.11.1949) he was transferred to the eternal military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
