Yoel (Avraham), son of Rivka and Leon, was born on 22 December 1953 in Haifa. and studied at the Reali School in Haifa. When he was seven years old, he traveled with his parents abroad and completed his elementary studies at the Solomon Schechter School in New York, where he also began high school, then returned to Israel and completed his studies at the Reali High School in Haifa. Yoel was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of August 1972 and volunteered for the Navy, but in the early days of his service he decided to join the Armored Corps, mainly because his brother was an officer in this corps, and after completing basic training for tanks, When Yoel was unable to find his unit, he joined a reserve unit and served as a liaison officer on a tank crew on the 7th of Tishrei 5740 (7.10.1973), in a battle that was abandoned in the Golan Heights Southwest of the Hoshenia junction, his tank was hit and Yoel was killed and brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. left behind parents a sister and brother, after his fall he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant-colonel, his friend said: “You searched for the war with a feeling of not staying behind at such crucial moments, a friend who knew him during his military service, wrote: “I met Yoel as a friend from the Carmel, as a beloved friend, and a handsome young man.
