In December 1989, Chen enlisted in the IDF, and his military profile was low, but he insisted on raising it so that he could serve with his comrades, lead them, and encourage their spirit.Channel served in the paratrooper’s 50th Battalion and was very proud of his red shoes. It was very important to him to drop his military service in Lebanon. After his military service he was accepted to membership in Kibbutz Ginosar and specialized in the banana industry. He loved this work and dreamed of being a farmer. As part of the “big trip,” he traveled to South America with Arik, a member of the nuclear group, and traveled there for half a year. In 1994 he began studying automotive engineering at Tel Hai College and graduated with honors. The project he has prepared on the subject of injecting fuel into all its components is still presented in the laboratory of the college. Thanks to his extensive knowledge of computers and the English language and his diligence and ambition, he was the mainstay of his father’s pajo and sitruan garage, where he worked as a troubleshooting analyst and solved problems across the network. On 15 September 1998, he married Lilach, a member of the Nahal Brigade, and his first son, Itamar, was born a year later, and he was a charming man, a good friend and a good son, a loving partner and a charming father. The reserves were a favor for the armored corps commander, twice a year for training and a line. He liked to serve in the reserves and saw this as his national duty even though he was aware of the risks involved in the service. On May 26, 2003, Chen went to reserve duty. On June 8, 2003, Chen was the first to sing at the terrorists, and he discovered the resourcefulness and courage that led to the lives of many of the soldiers, along with Colonel Udi Eilat, Boaz Emet and Lt. Col. Assaf Abergil. He was thirty-two years old when he fell. Survived by a pregnant wife, son, parents and two sisters. Four months after his death, his daughter Yael Daughter of-Chen was born. After his death, he was promoted to the rank of Major General, and in his death he left a large space in the hearts of his family and friends, and his sister Hadar eulogized him: “Chen, when you were like that, you are full of grace.” (This page is part of the Yizkor memorial project, Ministry of Defense)
