And Hanan, Daniel


Son of Shalom and Gracia. He was born on May 3, 1954, in the city of Paz, Morocco, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1962. He spent his first two years in Morocco. After completing his elementary studies at the Rashi School in Kiryat Nordoi, Netanya, he continued his high school studies at the Shapira School and completed them in the framework of mechanical frameworks, Daniel was drafted into the IDF in February 1973 and assigned to the Armored Corps. After basic training, he took a course in the ‘Shot’ course and was certified as a tank driver. During his service, Daniel fought during the Yom Kippur War. On the second day of the war, the tank that drove him was damaged and burned, but Daniel managed to get out and join the commander’s tank. Then he went on to fight as a driver in another tank, which was also hit, and even from this injury Daniel survived safely and continued to fight until the end of the fighting. On May 5, 1974, Daniel fell in battle in the Golan Heights, when he was wounded when he was in the position at Tel Antar, on the Golan Heights, where he was evacuated to a hospital where he died of his wounds and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Netanya. His parents contributed to his memory Aron, encyclopedias and dictionaries for the library and study room at the Rashi State Religious School in Kiryat Nordau, Netanya, where Daniel studied.
