Amsalem, Yechiel (“Amasa”, “Long Live”)


Son of Shimon and Yael. He was born on March 21, 1939 in Haifa, and after graduating from the “Torat Emet” elementary school he enrolled at the Reali School and studied in the framework of his military boarding school. In August 1958 he was drafted into the IDF and after compulsory service he continued his career in the army. His cheerfulness and mischievousness clung to all his men. Quickly he would receive orders and operations, and with that smile on his lips, because under a hard shell that enveloped him lay a gentle, poetic, sentimental soul, as the commander of the unit wrote to another who fell.
