Amos, Yitzhak (Joe)


Son of Annette and Jacob, was born on April 16, 1961 in Bet Shemesh. Isaac was also called Joseph. After his grandfather – Joseph, and Isaac after his other grandfather, because they both died that week. But the name Yitzchak remained in everyone’s mouth. Yitzhak studied at the Elyakim Elementary School for six years and then moved to the First High School. He was a naughty boy, running and raving, sports-loving, especially soccer and basketball, and of course jumping high and low. His favorite football team was Maccabi Netanya. To his classmates, Yitzhak behaved with friendship and affection, and to his teachers with respect and politeness. It was not easy to tease. A look of benevolence was always on his face. His mischievous smile greeted those who wanted to upset him and those who wished him well. The director of his school remembers him as “a cute young man whose thick black hair is constantly flowing around his neck … It was easy to persuade him to do any work and be the most difficult … I saw him every morning coming to school and carrying him on his shoulder, Who wants to take part in the fabric of life and school life. ” Yitzhak went too far, and did not boast of his high grades, especially in the drawing. Modesty was also a way of life in the army, as he did not boast about his actions and his unit. Yitzhak was drafted into the IDF in early August 1979 and volunteered to serve in the Paratroopers Brigade, where he passed through the arduous track of a paratrooper brigade commander in various courses and attained the rank of First Sergeant. And his friends, he was very attached to his family, and Yitzhak tried to reach his home whenever he could, and when he returned he shared among his friends the tasty cookies baked by his mother, and he loved life, From his home to participate in it, during the fighting, Yitzhak proved to his comrades and commanders that he had a strong fighting ability He wanted to demonstrate that the investment invested by the army was worthwhile, and he died on the 20th of Sivan 5742 (11.6.1982). He fell in combat in Lebanon during the Peace for Galilee War, and he is 21 years old. Yitzhak was brought to rest in the military section of the Beit Shemesh cemetery, which he loved so much. He left behind his parents, two sisters and a brother. His family published a booklet in his memory, which included the words of friends and family describing his image.
