Amit, Yaakov


Son of Shoshana and Israel. He was born on 29 March 1968 in Hod Hasharon. Jacob was a graceful child, full of joy, a little boy with a great sense of humor. He was very sensitive and radiated love to the whole world. He attended elementary school. He began his high school studies at the Mossinzon School in Hod Hasharon and continued with the theoretical track at the Ron High School in Herzliya. Yaakov belonged to the Maccabi youth movement, volunteered for the Civil Guard and was involved in sports. His friends called him ‘the boy of the neighborhood’ and loved him wherever he found himself. Jacob was a source of pride for the entire family. In mid-August 1986, he was drafted into the IDF and passed all the difficult and tedious admissions tests and was accepted into Sayeret Matkal. He was a disciplined soldier, very motivated, enterprising and resourceful. On December 6, 1986, Yaakov was killed and killed in a road accident in the north of the country near the Muhail junction, where he was buried in the military section of Neveh Hadar, and was survived by his parents, sister Einat and two brothers Rami and Idan “In his letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote:” From my acquaintance with Yaakov, I learned to know the best of Israeli youth, a boy who was always the first to fulfill every mission.
