Aminov, Issachar (Zohar)

Aminov, Issachar (Zohar)

Son of Yaffe and Nathaniel. Born on Rosh Chodesh Elul, (28.8.1927) in Russia. He immigrated to Israel in 1934. He was drafted into the IDF on March 9, 1948 and served in the Alexandroni Brigade. His commanders testify that he excelled in extraordinary heroism. During the “Horev” operation, a “liquidation” operation was carried out to liquidate the “Falluja pocket,” in which an Egyptian brigade was besieged. The attack took place on the eastern flank of the “pocket” in the area of Iraq al-Manshiyya. The Alexandroni forces broke into the village from the south and took over part of it, but their assault on the hill north of the village was repulsed. Meanwhile, the Egyptians recovered and attacked and forced our forces to withdraw. Part of the force remained trapped inside the village. In this battle Issachar fell on the 26th of Kislev (December 28, 1948). He was buried in Faluja. After some time, he was put to rest at the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery.
