Amer, Monhal
Ben Tamima and Na’im. Born on 20.5.1954 in Kfar Hurfeish in the Western Galilee, Monal was drafted into the IDF in mid-November 1972 and volunteered for the Armored Corps for many years, and was a devoted and loyal soldier who completed all his courses in the army, The tank “Centurion.” During his various years of service, Monahal was praised by many of his commanders, who regarded him not only as unique – the first Druze soldier in the IDF armored corps – but as one of the commanders said, “a symbol of a loyal and courageous soldier.” Shortly before the Yom Kippur War broke out, Monhal successfully completed the course of the tank commanders. When the war broke out he was transferred with his friends from the course to the southern front, in order to participate in the repelling of the Egyptian forces that had crossed the Suez Canal. Three times his tank was hit by the Egyptians, but he and his crew continued to fight tirelessly. After three days of fighting, he was transferred to the northern front and in one of the battles in the Golan Heights he was hit and killed on October 16, 1973. He was brought to eternal rest in Kfar Hurfeish in the Galilee. Survived by his parents and six brothers and sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant. Monal was the first Druze cavalry to be laid to rest in the grave of IDF soldiers who had been set up in Hurfeish,
