Amer, Karim


Son of Fahda and Ali, was born on June 25, 1959 in the village of Hurfeish in the Western Galilee. He is a member of a traditional rural Druze family, which has deep roots in the village and the village. Karim studied at the elementary school in Hurfeish and was a member of the Scouts movement that operated in the school. He was gentle, devoted to his family, and stood out in his willingness to help others. After graduating from elementary school, he acquired a profession as an electrician and began to work as an independent. Kareem joined the IDF in May 1977 and served in the infantry, and his brother, who was older than him, fell during his army service. As a member of a bereaved family, he served in office. At a young age he later married and built his home in Hurfeish. After his discharge from duty, he returned to his job as an electrician in the village. In October 1982 he was called up for reserve duty in Lebanon and served as an interpreter in the military government in Sidon. On November 19, 1982, he went on a tour with the commander of the sector. A terrorist ambush opened fire on them and Karim was killed. He was 23 when he died. Defense Minister Moshe Arens wrote to his family: “Karim was an excellent fighter, very motivated to serve, and was very fond of his comrades and commanders.” The commander of his unit said: “Karim was highly motivated. Karim was buried in the military section of the Hurfeish cemetery. He left behind a wife, two children, parents and seven brothers and sisters
