Amar, Madeline


Daughter of Rosette and Marco Abraham. She was born on June 1, 1958 in France and immigrated to Israel with her family in 1968. She began her elementary studies in France and completed her studies at the Atzmaut elementary school in Kiryat Ata. – Rogozin High School in Kiryat Ata Medellin was drafted into the IDF in late October 1976 and was stationed in the Signal Corps. After basic training, and after completing her training course, she was assigned to the IAF in the role of a DPA. After completing her regular service, she volunteered for career service until 1981. In 1986, she volunteered again for the career army as a registrar. Madeleine was popular with her unitmates, and she was very professional. In the assessments of her commanders, which are in her personal file, she says: “A very good soldier, an excellent opponent, performs her duties well.” She received the operational service signal. Over the years she married David and they had two sons, Isaac and Marco. On May 2, 1989, Madeleine fell during her service and was brought to eternal rest in the Kiryat Ata cemetery. Survived by a husband, two sons – Yitzhak and Marco, parents and brother – Sasson. In a letter of condolence to the family, her commander wrote: “Madeleine was a model for all the soldiers in the unit. She was kind and smiling and always found the right word at the right time.”
