Amar, Edward
Son of Mamram and Meir, was born on October 9, 1910 in Alexandria, Egypt. He was highly educated, a graduate of the Technion and a qualified engineer. He lived in Paris with his family in a quiet civil life, but the fate of Israel guided him to rest and in the outbreak of the War of Independence he separated from his wife and little daughter and left for Israel as a foreign volunteer. His good will: he contracted a malignant disease and died in the hospital in Pardes Katz in the third month of his arrival, on 9 September 1948. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Netanya. His wife Rosa and his daughter Yolanda remained in France.
