Amado, Moshe

Moshe, son of Rivkah and Yaakov Amado, was born on February 2, 1927 in Burgas, Bulgaria, and immigrated with his parents to Israel at the age of eight. After completing his studies at the Tachkemoni School in Tel Aviv he worked as a metalworker and completed a course for heavy machine gun operators. In the battles of Abu Kabir he worked as a saboteur and was later transferred to the 7th Brigade of the Latrun Front, where he served as a sergeant and commanded six jeeps and six half-tracks. He went on a course for mortar commanders and took part in the campaign to liberate the Galilee. Moshe was ready to fulfill any mission and his subordinates loved him and respected him, for he cared for all their needs. Moshe fell on the 26th of Tishrei 5749 (29.10.1948) during the “Hiram” operation for the liberation of the Upper Galilee, in the battle in the Meron area. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Rosh Pina.
