He grew up in Binyamina with his five brothers and sisters, studied at the “Hanadiv” school and in high school moved to the “Mevo’ot Yam” maritime school in Michmoret. After his military service Meir worked on the merchant fleet “Zirios”. In 1984 Meir married Nitza and the couple had two children: Eviatar and Yosef Haim. In his spare time, Meir, who from an early age was an avid soccer player, was playing soccer. At the beginning of the nineties, Meir moved to Jerusalem to work in the police force, where he served in the traffic police. In 1993, after moving to Haifa, he moved to serve in the movement’s bureau in Judea and Samaria. Then the family moved to Ariel. On Sunday, June 16, 1996, Meir entered with his wife and son to buy a walker for a child in an Arab-owned shop at the entrance to Ariel. The day before, he had visited the store and announced that he would return. The family was detained by the shopkeepers for a few minutes, and then a terrorist entered and shot them. Meir was killed on the spot, his wife who was holding the baby was injured, and only the baby in her hands was not hurt. First Sergeant Meir was forty years old when he died. He was laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Binyamina. He left a wife and two sons, a mother, brothers and sisters.
