Altovsky, Ilan


Ilan, son of Miriam and Israel, was born in Tel Aviv on August 13, 1940. Ilan was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early August 1958. After completing basic training, he was assigned as a pilot in the elite unit of the Minorities Unit in the south of the country and took part in patrols along the Jordan border, For many years, because of his father’s health, Ilan was forced to ask for a transfer to the home and was transferred to a wireless listening unit, and after a time he took a course in communications and advanced training from a wireless company, where he was responsible, dedicated and disciplined. Who completed his regular service, was assigned to reserve duty in the Armored Corps in the Six Day War Ilan studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and studied sociology and political science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he studied at the Tel Aviv branch of the University. He worked as an agent of various companies, and for a while after completing his bachelor’s degree, he continued to study for a master’s degree in business administration but did not finish his studies. . In 1969 he traveled with his wife for a short trip to Cyprus to see the refugee camp where she was born. In the last seven years of his life, Ilan has worked with Pazachim in Tel Aviv. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Ilan was called to his unit and participated as a radio operator in the battles in the Golan Heights.
