Altenberg, Shmuel
The only son of Isaac and Ruth. He was born on December 24, 1951 in Holon. He studied at the HN Bialik Elementary School and at the New High School, both in Holon, and was a member of the United Movement in the Holon branch, and he excelled in various sports, especially in swimming. After he fell, the principal of the high school wrote, among other things, to send his matriculation certificate to his family: “I had the privilege of getting to know Samuel, not as a manager but also as a teacher. I will not forget the interesting conversations I had with him on various subjects, conversations I could learn a lot about, the depth of the adolescent’s mind and spirit. – The matriculation certificate will be another memorial for you from your unforgettable son, whose school and board of directors take part in your great grief over his death. “He was drafted into the IDF in early August 1970 and volunteered for the Israel Air Force. On September 18, 1971, he died during his service. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
