Altarshan, Ali


Ali, son of Afaida and Khalil Altarshan, was born in the tribe of Al-Atrash, which sits on the road between Be’er Sheva and Arad, in 1977. On December 18, 1994, Ali enlisted in the infantry and served as a scout in the Southern Command’s scouts unit. Was admired by his fellow soldiers, and his commanders saw him as a potential officer. In October 1998 he began his service in the regular army. Sergeant Ali Altershan fell during his duty on December 25, 2000, in a road accident that occurred when he made his way home from his military unit. He was twenty-three years old when he fell. He was buried in the cemetery of the tribe of Al-Atrash. He left behind his young wife whom he had married only three months before his fall, parents, eight brothers and six sisters.
