Alshich, Moses

Alshich, Moses

The son-in-law of Sarah and Yehuda, was born on March 28, 1929 in Jerusalem, to parents who had high hopes for him. After graduating from elementary school, he began working at the Berman Bakery in Jerusalem. Moshe joined the Hanoar Haoved movement and wanted to go to agricultural training. He was an active member of the “HaKoach” sports club, and excelled in all subjects, especially football. He joined the Gadna and was 17 at the Haganah, and spent about one year practicing in the besieged village of Etzion, around Ramallah, and then transferred to the army. After November 29 he joined the Haganah and was sent to a training camp, where he accompanied convoys to Kfar Etzion, took part in the battles in Neve Ya’akov and Hartuv, and was sent to defend the Old City of Jerusalem. A pleasant voice always elicited a high mood around him, and defenders of other positions chose to rest their position after the UN resolution: “The UN decision can not be compared to England’s promises, which led us astray. This is the beginning of redemption – and now it is all worthwhile. “But his Lev predicted that he would not come out of the Old City, but explicitly expressed his fear: in the Old City he was in the most extreme positions and trained the youth there with weapons. On March 28, 1948, during a search for weapons by the British in the Old City, members of the Haganah opposed the search and defended the remnants of their weapons, When he received a cigarette and turned to ask for a match, a British soldier shot a bullet in the back, and Moshe was seriously wounded and half an hour later died of his wounds. Lau has 19 years. On twenty-two Elul Tsi”a (13/09/1951) was laid-rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
