Alon, Shalom (Charlie)

Ben Yvonne and Abraham. Shalom (Charlie) was born in Rehovot on April 26, 1973. Lived in Yavneh, was the eldest son of a family of eight. Charley attended elementary school and high school in Yavne. During his studies in the division, he received a number of certificates of appreciation and excellence from the school administration, among other things for student tutoring, assistance in organizing social events on behalf of the school and more. He was also active in the “Am Yaffe – Am Ehad” movement and was invited to the President’s Residence. He also played for the Maccabi Yavneh youth team and was in the drums department. In high school Charlie studied architecture, and when he was in 11th grade, he joined the Polish delegation, “March of the Living” (youth delegations to visit the death camps in Poland). At the beginning of his service he was in the naval commando, but after a short period he was forced to retire due to an injury. He joined the Nahal Brigade’s parachute infantry course and took a commanding officer course, and towards the end of the service he served as a platoon commander, and on February 7, 1995, Charlie enlisted in the police force Israel, LY, District of Judea and Samaria, and served as a combat soldier in the unit, which was one of his favorites, and his great ambition was to move forward in this system On Monday, 25 Kislev 5756 (November 25, 1995) Charlie was killed in an accident. When he rode his motorcycle on one of his Shabbat walks, in one of the twists of the Sodom-Arad road, the motorcycle’s foot brushed against the road, causing Charlie to be thrown out of the motorcycle. He flew right on a vehicle coming in the opposite direction and killed on the spot, killed with the thing he loved. Sergeant Charlie was twenty-two years old when he died. He was buried in the military section of the cemetery in Yavneh. Survived by parents, three brothers and two sisters.
